Phone numbers are the entry point for inbound calls and the caller ID for outbound calls. DialNexa provides Direct Inward Dialing (DID) numbers across the US, UK, India, and additional regions through its carrier partners. Numbers are provisioned instantly and usable as soon as the purchase completes.

Prerequisites

  • An active DialNexa workspace with billing configured
  • KYC verification completed for regulated regions (India, UK, and some EU countries). See International Calling.

Open the Phone Numbers tab

In the DialNexa dashboard, navigate to Phone Numbers in the left sidebar. This tab lists all numbers currently provisioned to your workspace.
2

Click the Buy Number button in the top-right corner of the Phone Numbers page. A search dialog opens.
3

Enter a search query to filter available numbers. You can search by:
  • Area code (e.g., 415 for San Francisco)
  • Prefix (e.g., 800 for toll-free US numbers)
  • Digit pattern (partial digit match against available inventory)
The results list shows available numbers and their monthly rental cost.
5

Select and confirm purchase

Click the number you want. Review the monthly rate shown, then click Purchase. Confirm in the dialog that appears. The number is immediately added to your workspace and appears in the Phone Numbers list with a status of Active.

After Purchase

Once purchased:
  • The number is provisioned with your telephony carrier (Plivo by default for all regions including India; or your configured BYO SIP provider).
  • No agent is assigned by default. Calls to an unassigned number are rejected automatically.
  • You can add a nickname so the number is easier to recognize in Phone Numbers, agent selectors, batch call setup, and workflow call nodes.
  • You can assign an inbound agent version immediately. See Receive Inbound Calls.
  • You can use the number as the from_number for outbound API calls immediately. See Make Outbound Calls.

Verify the Number

To confirm the number is active:
  1. Open the Phone Numbers tab.
  2. Locate the number. The Status column should show Active.
  3. Click the number to open its detail view. The Telephony Provider field confirms which carrier is serving it.
Place a test inbound call to the number after purchase. With no agent assigned you will hear a rejection tone, which confirms the number is active and routing. Assign an agent version to start receiving calls.

Costs

Each number has a monthly rental fee shown during the purchase flow. This fee is charged per billing cycle regardless of call volume. Per-minute call charges apply separately based on your plan and telephony provider.
Monthly number fees are not prorated if you release a number mid-cycle. The full month is billed at the start of the cycle.

Release a Number

To release a number you no longer need:
  1. Open Phone Numbers.
  2. Click the number to open its detail view.
  3. Click Release Number and confirm.
The number is removed from your workspace, billing stops at the next cycle, and the number returns to carrier inventory.
Releasing a number is permanent. Inbound routing for that number stops immediately. Update any external systems or IVR configurations referencing the number before releasing.
