Plivo is the default telephony carrier for DialNexa workspaces outside India. When you purchase a phone number through the DialNexa dashboard in most supported regions, the number is provisioned on Plivo’s infrastructure automatically. No account setup, API keys, or manual configuration is needed for standard use.

Regions Served by Plivo

Plivo handles call routing for the following regions:
RegionNotes
United StatesLocal, toll-free, and vanity numbers
United KingdomGeographic and non-geographic numbers
CanadaLocal numbers in major area codes
AustraliaGeographic numbers in capital cities and regional areas
Most of EuropeAvailability varies by country
Other regionsContact support for specific country availability
India numbers are also available through Plivo’s India number inventory. Purchase them directly from the Phone Numbers tab in the dashboard.

Standard Configuration (No Setup Required)

For numbers purchased through the DialNexa dashboard:
  1. Select the country and search for available numbers.
  2. Purchase the number.
  3. Plivo is automatically configured as the carrier. No keys, URIs, or manual steps needed.
The number appears in Phone Numbers with Plivo listed as the Telephony Provider. It is ready for inbound and outbound use immediately.

Plivo SIP for Advanced Configurations

For advanced use cases, DialNexa supports connecting directly to Plivo SIP trunks using the BYO SIP flow. Use this when:
  • You have an existing Plivo account with credits or rate agreements you want to keep using.
  • You need Plivo-specific SIP features (e.g., custom SIP headers, media server configuration).
  • You are migrating numbers from a self-managed Plivo account into DialNexa.
To connect a Plivo SIP trunk manually, follow the Bring Your Own SIP configuration steps and use the Plivo SIP termination URI from your Plivo account.
If you connect a Plivo SIP trunk via BYO SIP, telephony costs are billed to your Plivo account at your Plivo rates, not included in DialNexa’s per-minute rate. This differs from standard DialNexa-provisioned Plivo numbers.

Call Quality

Plivo’s network performance varies by region and route. For most US and UK calls, you can expect:
  • Low latency (under 150ms one-way in the same region)
  • High call completion rates on major carriers
  • Good audio quality at standard G.711 codec settings
If you experience degraded quality on Plivo routes, the DialNexa audio denoising setting can improve intelligibility. See Agent Setup: Audio Tab.

Troubleshooting

Verify the number has an inbound agent version assigned. Calls to unassigned numbers are rejected before reaching Plivo routing. See Receive Inbound Calls.
Check the call record in Call History for the specific error code. Plivo carrier errors are logged in the carrier_error_code field. Common codes: 21211 (invalid destination), 21614 (not reachable). Verify the destination number is in valid E.164 format.
Enable denoising in the Audio Tab of Agent Setup. If quality issues persist on specific routes (e.g., US to international), contact DialNexa support with the affected call IDs for carrier-level investigation.
