Regions Served by Plivo
Plivo handles call routing for the following regions:| Region | Notes |
|---|---|
| United States | Local, toll-free, and vanity numbers |
| United Kingdom | Geographic and non-geographic numbers |
| Canada | Local numbers in major area codes |
| Australia | Geographic numbers in capital cities and regional areas |
| Most of Europe | Availability varies by country |
| Other regions | Contact support for specific country availability |
Standard Configuration (No Setup Required)
For numbers purchased through the DialNexa dashboard:- Select the country and search for available numbers.
- Purchase the number.
- Plivo is automatically configured as the carrier. No keys, URIs, or manual steps needed.
Plivo SIP for Advanced Configurations
For advanced use cases, DialNexa supports connecting directly to Plivo SIP trunks using the BYO SIP flow. Use this when:- You have an existing Plivo account with credits or rate agreements you want to keep using.
- You need Plivo-specific SIP features (e.g., custom SIP headers, media server configuration).
- You are migrating numbers from a self-managed Plivo account into DialNexa.
If you connect a Plivo SIP trunk via BYO SIP, telephony costs are billed to your Plivo account at your Plivo rates, not included in DialNexa’s per-minute rate. This differs from standard DialNexa-provisioned Plivo numbers.
Call Quality
Plivo’s network performance varies by region and route. For most US and UK calls, you can expect:- Low latency (under 150ms one-way in the same region)
- High call completion rates on major carriers
- Good audio quality at standard G.711 codec settings
Troubleshooting
Inbound calls not connecting
Inbound calls not connecting
Verify the number has an inbound agent version assigned. Calls to unassigned numbers are rejected before reaching Plivo routing. See Receive Inbound Calls.
Outbound calls failing with a carrier error
Outbound calls failing with a carrier error
Check the call record in Call History for the specific error code. Plivo carrier errors are logged in the
carrier_error_code field. Common codes: 21211 (invalid destination), 21614 (not reachable). Verify the destination number is in valid E.164 format.Poor audio quality
Poor audio quality
Enable denoising in the Audio Tab of Agent Setup. If quality issues persist on specific routes (e.g., US to international), contact DialNexa support with the affected call IDs for carrier-level investigation.
